 About Grob
Back in 1929, two young engineers, Ben and Ted Grob, were challenged
by a feisty friend who asked a question so direct that it cut like
a new saw blade. “Why,” he asked, “don’t
you start your own business instead of talking about it all the time?”
“No money,” they responded.
“Nonsense,” said the challenger,
“What it takes is guts.”
The brothers exchanged glances and agreed, “Guts we have.”
This was the beginning. In West Allis, Wisconsin, in a 20’ x
20’ garage, Grob Brothers was founded. There were four partners:
Ben, Ted and their wives, Annalisa and Mavis.
It is said the extent of the Grob brothers travel back then was
limited. It went from bank to bank to renew notes, but business prospered
and six months later they built a larger shop. All 40’ x 46’ of
it. And it looked BIG. They later developed what later put Grob Brothers
on the map: the Grob Continuous Filing Machine. The success of this
machine, noted for its time saving capabilities, made it possible
for Grob Brothers to expand its workforce. More people meant more
space, so they moved north of Milwaukee and constructed a larger
manufacturing facility in Grafton, Wisconsin.

at our facility. From toolroom to welding to final assembly, our employees
